Apple has updated it’s iPhone User Guide for iOS 12 to include new information relating to version 12.1.

Group FaceTime

In the FaceTime chapter a new section has been added Make a Group FaceTime call on iPhone.

To start a Group FaceTime call in FaceTime tap the + button in the top right to add the contacts and then tap the video or audio icons to make the call.

Group FaceTime was demoed at Apple’s WWDC conference and was to be included in iOS 12 but was pulled from the release during development. It will now be included in iOS 12.1 to be released shortly.

Dual SIM support

In the chapter Set up and get started the section Setup a cellular service on iPhone has been updated to include information about dual SIM setup.

The iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR announced at Apple’s Gather Round event all include dual SIM support. Dual SIM support is provided by one physical nano-SIM and an eSIM.

At the time of writing no major Australian carriers have announced support dual SIM. They have said they are evaluating based on customer demand so if you want it, demand it!

Dual SIM will allow you to use one number for business and another for personal calls, a data plan when travelling overseas or a seperate plan for voice and data.
