MacBook Pros with faster graphics

Shortly after launching the new iPad Pro, MacBook Air and Mac Mini with much fanfare Apple has quietly released faster graphic options for the MacBook Pro.

The top of the line MacBook Pro 15-inch now has options to upgrade the graphics to Vega 16 or Vega 20 discrete graphics processing unit (GPU) with 4GB of HBM2 memory as a replacement to the Radeon Pro 560X with 4GB of GDDR5 memory.

HMB2 memory improves over GDDR5 memory by offering more memory bandwidth and lower power consumption.

The Radeon Pro Vega 16 with 4GB of HBM2 memory upgrade option is an additional A$400 and the Radeon Pro Vega 20 with 4GB of HBM2 memory is an additional A$560.

For those requiring even more power Apple has the Blackmagic eGPU Pro featuring the Radeon RX Vega 56 graphics processor with 8GB of HBM2 memory coming late this month. This is an external GPU compatible with Thunderbolt 3 equipped Macs and pricing will be A$1,999.00.
