Protests continue against Apple Store in Melbourne’s Fed Square

Protests continue against the proposed flagship Apple Store at Melbourne’s Federation Square. The protestors are demanding the Victorian government change its plans to allow the store.

About 200 people on Wednesday gathered to protest the space. They also have a about 100,000 signatures collected against the plan.

The National Trust Victoria, a community-based heritage advocacy organisation also opposes the project.

The store was announced in December and is expected to open in late 2020 with a 20-year lease.

The company has already offered a revised design for the building following initial outcry but this seems to have made little difference to those determined to oppose the plan.
