In an Aussie first Ticketek and Apple are launching contactless tickets for Rugby fans with an iPhone or Apple Watch.
The new system will launch at Suncorp Stadium in time for the start of the Rugby League State of Origin season. The technology will debut at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday 1 June when the Queensland Reds host the Jaguares in Super Rugby, followed by State of Origin Game One on Wednesday 5 June.
When purchasing tickets customers can choose to receive their tickets digitally and add them to Apple Wallet. A push notification will be sent when they arrive at the venue allowing them to quickly access their tickets for streamlined entry.
When entering Suncorp Stadium fans will be able to scan their iPhone or Apple Watch near the turnstiles reader for speedy entry.
How to add your ticket to Apple Pay:
- Select mobile ticket delivery at purchase.
- Tap the link you receive in the SMS on your iPhone
- Add your tickets to Apple Wallet.
The new system will be a welcome addition to anyone that has either lost their ticket or left it at home. Just don’t forget your iPhone!
Of course within the Suncorp Stadium food and drinks can also be purchased using Apple Pay so you can leave your wallet at home.
The introduction of tap-and-go tickets on iPhone and Apple Watch is a ground-breaking move away from traditional ticketing barcodes and scanning technologies, designed to enhance both customer usability and event operations…
