1st Consumer iPhone Passcode Recovery Service

DriveSavers in the US has launched the 1st known iOS passcode recovery service aimed at consumers.

They claim to be utilising new technology and that they have a 100% success rate.

Their website states they can unlock and recover data from passcode-protected smartphones of every make, model and operating system with any length passcode, including phones and tablets with more complicated passcodes of six digits or more.

With version of iOS prior to iOS 11 a device called GreyKey which was only available to law enforcement was able to break into your iPhone despite Apple’s best efforts.

The company behind the tech, Grayshift, includes an ex-Apple security engineer amongst its founders and includes the US government agencies ICE & the Secret Service amongst its customers.

iOS 12 was reported to prevent GreyKey from cracking the passcodes of iPhones.

Apple released an update to iOS 11 that added a USB restricted mode to make the hack more difficult but Grayshift quickly announced that they had bypassed the security measure.

The GrayKey device is in use with law enforcement in multiple countries and could allegedly crack four digit passcodes in under 15 minutes.
