The Aussie EFTPOS network has now launched support for Apple Pay with ANZ In addition to paying for goods it will allow users to get cash out of their cheque/savings accounts.
ANZ customers can now choose cheque or savings for purchases made via debit cards linked to Apple Pay. The ANZ Access Advantage Visa debit card is the first to launch support.
The new EFTPOS in store payments functionality will work instantly.
The first major retailers to offer cash out support are BP fuel stations, Bunnings, McDonald’s, IGA supermarkets, 7-Eleven, David Jones and NightOwl. Coles & Woolworths support is coming soon.
ANZ has successfully taken advantage of Apple Pay to draw customers from the its Big 4 counterparts by being the first of them to support Apple Pay in April 2016.
CommBank (and its lower cost subsidiary BankWest) have announced that they will support Apple Pay this month but have provided little further details.
Westpac & NAB are still holding out support for Apple Pay but have been rumoured to announce plans for Apple Pay support shortly.
