Apple considering lower cost Apple TV dongle


With Apple’s TV & Film streaming service expected to debut next year Apple is considering a more affordable Apple TV dongle.

Apple is rumoured to release a streaming service in over 100 countries next year. There are many of TV shows already known to be in production and Apple recently signed a new deal for movies.

There are also rumours of at least some of the content being available for free to those with Apple hardware and Apple’s TV app which is currently available on Apple TV and iOS.

Apple is also negotiating deals to provide access to subscription channels like HBO and STARZ. 

Apple is reportedly considering a cheaper option to its Apple TV currently available starting at AUD$209 and ranging up to AUD$279.

According to a report from The Information, Apple is considering creating a lower cost Apple TV dongle similar to Amazon Fire Stick or Google Chromecast. They have models starting from as low as AUD$59.

The lower priced Apple TV hardware would make the new Apple service more appealing to potential subscribers. The service is rumoured to only be available via Apple hardware devices like iPad and Apple TV that include the TV App.
