A group opposed to the re-development of Federation Square is trying to raise 40 mill to buy the Yarra Building?!
The crowd funding campaign launched by Our City, Our Square is looking to get pledges of 40 million dollars to outbid Apple’s offer to purchase the site currently occupied by the Yarra Building.
The group has setup a page on Possible to raise the money but states outright it will not actually be collecting any money, even if it meets it’s target of 40 mill.
The page also suggests supporters lodge an objection to the demolition of the current building with Heritage Victoria.
The page has 75 supporters at the moment and pledges of $216,312.
The project has been controversial since announced by the Victorian government with many people not wanting a flagship Apple store in Federation Square.
