Pandora beats Spotify to the much requested feature of offline playback support on the Apple Watch.
The new app has been rebuilt from the ground up to better integrate into the Apple Watch.
Offline playback support has been a popular request on both Pandora and Spotify but failed to materialise in Spotify’s recent update. The new feature allows users to create playlists and download music for offline playback on the Apple Watch.
Previously the app required a cellular or wifi connection to stream music over the internet. This required you to take your iPhone with you on a workout if you wanted to listen to Pandora music streaming.
You can still not stream music using the Apple Watch cellular connection which is still limited to only Apple Music.
To use offline playback you will need an Apple Watch running watchOS 5 and either a Pandora Plus or Premium subscription.
